What is Cork?

Cork is the bark of the cork oak tree - Quercus Suber L. - which is 100% natural plant tissue. The cork cells, grouped in a honeycomb structure similar to a beehive, filled with a mixture, gases identical to air. In addition, other compounds are identified in their chemical composition, although in less quantity, such as polysaccharides, ceroids, and tannins.

We work closely with Portuguese cork farmers who hand-harvest the trees about every decade to harvest the bark.
The process allows the trees to grow faster, and they live longer. A cork tree often lives to 250-years. The cork bark permits us to provide the highest quality textile, and our cork fabric looks and feels like premium leather even as it is lighter, softer, and more durable.
